What is a page title tag?

A title is a descriptive text of a web page or document. The title is in the HTML Title Tag. The title tag is then displayed to the visitor of the web page, usually in the title bar of the browser. The page title is also displayed in the search engine results page(SERP).

It's recommended to give every page its own unique title. This tells the online visitor, but also the search engine spider, that the pages on the website each contain unique content. If – for instance because of a configuration fault – all pages on the website have the same title, this can have a negative influence on the ranking in the search engine results.
